Thesis prototyping platform
Custom ESP32-S3 dev board with camera, IMU, and audio for student research builds — schematic review to assembly.
The problem
A research build needed camera, motion, and audio sensing on one compact, battery-powered ESP32-S3 board — with a layout that would power up first try.
What we did
- Schematic design around ESP32-S3 with OV2640 camera, IMU, and I2S microphone
- Power-path and battery charging, USB-C with proper CC and ESD protection
- Boot/strapping pin review and decoupling pass before layout
- PCB layout, prototype assembly, and bring-up
Stack
ESP32-S3KiCadOV2640I2C / I2SLi-ion power-path
Outcome
A working all-in-one board the researcher could build on, avoiding the common first-board failures that cost weeks near a deadline.
